Still haven’t tried this new big hit – Bubble Waffle in the street food scene? Then you need to know a little bit about what a Bubble Waffle really is.
In the early 1950s, egg waffles firstly appeared in Hong Kong and have since became a popular street snack. People back then didn't want to waste broken eggs which could not be sold to customers, so they created the egg shaped iron machine and blended egg with milk and flour to make this meaningful and tasty waffle. The first bite is crispy, then the softness inside will melt in your mouth...
Let’s see why Bubblewrap Waffle chose to create a Bubble Waffle stall out of other street food at our EAT LONDON STREET FESTIVAL.
Egg Waffle is a product that contains a lot of Hong Kong people’s childhood memories, and Bubblewrap Waffle wants to present the concept of Chinese dessert as a sholw and at the same time remind those people of their childhood and serve British people as well. The wrapped waffle full of bubbles and that's why we call it bubblewrap. At the beginning, the team tested the traditional egg waffle with a wide range of different toppings, also created their own cocoa flavour base. Aiming to be the fusionist for Chinese dessert with local taste without losing its authenticity.
“Bubble Waffle’s taste is so unique and delicious, crispy outter layer with soft bubbles, and you can add different toppings on it. Who doesn’t like this? We love food especially fresh, homemade egg waffles. We would like to bring you the memorable street snack, redesigned with local ingredients.
Running a market stall is very exciting during summer…while extremely painful in winter. But we love every smile from our customers and it feels rewarding after a whole day’s standing and working. There was one boy, who stayed at the festival we attended for the whole day and bought three waffles for breakfast, lunch and dinner!”
When asked the Bubblewrap Waffle team what is their favourite and most recommended street food in China, they said it’s definitely Meat skewers and spicy dumplings it’s great with an ice cold drink in the summer, and comforting when eaten in winter. But here in London the best street food for them is all different type of burgers.
“We can’t wait for visitors to come and try our Bubble Waffle, because we put a lot of effort in creating our products and making our customers happy!”
